  • I had the pleasure of running the Connemara International Half Marathon yesterday, 1hr 58! Yeoowh!!. The weather was amazing, the course was amazing, the runners, the locals, and staff were amazing! I've rarely had such a good time exercising.

  • This was my first real run, and now I am totally hooked. I just wanted to thank everyone involved, and say that I can't wait for next years Full Marathon. Keep up the fantastic work.

  • This was my first ultra and I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. Myself and 18 friends from Nidd Valley Road Runners came from Harrogate to run the marathon and all agree how great it was, we're all still buzzing from it.

Ultra Marathon 2010 Biggest Field Yet!

Fri, 26/02/2010

The first Connemara Ultra Marathon took place in 2004 with just 38 brave souls taking on the marathon and a half distance of 39.3 miles.... and look what’s happened since.

58 turned up at the finish line in 2005, 61 braved the elements in 2006. Then in 2007 81 finished, followed by another 97 in 2008. Last year saw the 100 barrier broken for the first time with 107 people completing the distance.

And now looking forward to 2010, a massive field of over 200, yes that’s right, two hundred people are expected over the finish line of the Ronhill Connemara Ultra Marathon this April.

“This huge surge in entries is no doubt down to the ledgendary and unique distance on offer in Connemara. It’s long enough to know you’ve done something extraordinary, but not all day and night long which is nice” commented Race Director Ray O’Connor.
