The race itself was great and thank god for the weather, thanks to ray and the organisation team too. I really enjoyed it and will be back next year. The soup after the race was lovely. It was like a meal in itself.

The organisation was faultless, from the baggage buses, to the fantastic aid stations(those kids worked HARD), to the t shirts and medals. All utterly, utterly wonderful (the scenery was quite nice too-tee hee).

Sun, 01/04/2007Brazil’s Ismael de Peieirs de Silva wins Connemarathon
On a glorious sunny Sunday, Brazil’s Ismael Pereirs de Silva was first past the finishing line in the Failte Ireland Connemara International Marathon. The Brazilian, who travelled to Ireland especially for the event, completed the 26.2 miles full marathon course in a time of 2 hours and 32 minutes.
The first woman home in the full marathon was Sharon Daw from the United Kingdom.
Just five seconds separated the first and second place finishers in the 39.3 miles Ultra Marathon. Ultra winner, Martin Rea pipped last year’s winner and Ireland’s 1
