This was my first ultra and I had an absolutely fantastic weekend. Myself and 18 friends from Nidd Valley Road Runners came from Harrogate to run the marathon and all agree how great it was, we're all still buzzing from it.

I can't say enough good things about the organisers and the brilliant people who manned the aid stations, thanks indeed for one of the best and most memorable days ever. Looking forward to 2008! (after another day or two sitting down)

Thanks for the effort to organize Connemara 2007, there are no words to say how beautiful was the day, and without a proper organization the weather would not have been enough (and the marathon would just not exists).
New Connemara Build Up Event
Tue, 14/02/2012Connemarathon 'Choose Your Distance'. Mick Rice will hold a Connemarathon Q&A in Oughterard on March 10th following this unique NEW event in Connemara.
The Connemarathon 'Choose Your Distance will offer entrants the ability to take on any distance they choose over the legendary course three weeks before the big day.
Buses will depart Galway City at 9:00am on March 10th and drive the entire Ultra, Full and Half Marathon route allowing entrants to choose their individual starting point with everyone finishing at Maam Cross. There will be three water stations set out on the course with a range of snacks. Connemarathon Race Director Ray O'Connor says "This is a great opportunity for everyone to see first hand what 'the devil's mother' or 'the hell of the west' is actually like without having to take on the full distance. Once the bus arrives at the mile marker that you want to start from you can hop off and run." The event is perfect for anyone taking on the Half, Full or Ultra Marathon this April. Everyone is then brought back to Oughterard by bus for a well earned buffet lunch followed by a interesting course overview and Q&A session which will be hosted by Mick Rice.
Mick Rice was the first person to test the Connemara Ultra route in 2003 as the idea for the first annual on-road ultra in Ireland was being examined. Since then he has run the course more times than anyone else.
Entry including return bus from Galway City, lunch and Q&A session - €35
