Thanks for a great day on Sunday, really enjoyable and very well organized. Overall the organisers did one hell of a job in organising this great event and as far as I'm concerned it was a fantastic day and I'll definitely be back.

Splendid event and a fantastic environment for it (and you managed excellent weather!). Your organisation was incredible, everything thought of and available in huge quantities; gallons of water out there, and lots of food at the finish.
Marathon Man Reflects
Tue, 20/04/2010The Irish National Marathon Champion Sergiu Ciobanu talks about his race in Connemara
When Sergiu crossed the line in 2 hours 31 minutes he had mixed emotions. He was happy to win a perfect race but just 5 seconds stood between him and the long standing course record of 2 hours 30 minutes and 55 seconds set in 2004 by Kenyan Issac Kimuge. Speaking after the race Sergiu said "How about the race itself? it was perfect all the way except those 5 seconds which cost me breaking the long standing course record. I would say I was more prepared psychologically than physically. From the early start i went at my medium marathon pace which would be 2:24-2:25 finish, it was after I hit the first hill of the race coming into mile 7 that i became more concerned. I started to think about the famous hill at the 22-24 mile mark which people used to talk about. So this concern helped me hold back all the way between mile 7 and 21 trying to save the energy for the great hill. Just after the race i analysed if I had relaxed, I could run at least 1.5 minutes faster. But that was it, and we all are looking forward to performing the next time we race".
