Ray, I had a fabulous weekend. I really enjoyed the run. It's a unique and great event. Liam, Gary, Aisling and Tony all had a great time. Special mention to the marquee - well laid out and great grub.

In an internet café in Galway. Just wanted to say thanks. We had a brilliant day. The race, as always, was superbly organised, and a great craic was had by all! We'll be back next year.

Thanks for a great day on Sunday, really enjoyable and very well organized. Overall the organisers did one hell of a job in organising this great event and as far as I'm concerned it was a fantastic day and I'll definitely be back.

I had the pleasure of running the Connemara International Half Marathon yesterday, 1hr 58! Yeoowh!!. The weather was amazing, the course was amazing, the runners, the locals, and staff were amazing! I've rarely had such a good time exercising.

I just want to thank everyone on the Connemara Marathon team for making yesterday so special. It was a day from heaven - even if large parts of it did fell like hell :)
Day 9
Wed, 21/05/2008As soon as I got back to the lodge after the stream yesterday my slight ankle strain began to hurt and I could feel the swelling. This must have been the trigger for my first real emotional experience on this trip. I went downhill rapidly. Strange feeling to be depressed after posting a second sub 3.30 but I was really down. I went to bed at 4 and didn't want to get up. Didn't want to think about running the next day and didn't want to go to dinner either. Fed up.
I won't go further than that here.
Day 9 started with a hobble to the start. I had picked myself up and started laughing at the scene as a few of us bandaged up walked down the drive. It was like a small hospital being evacuated :-D I really dreaded the run. I had no idea as I toed the line if I would be able to run one step or if I'd have to walk. I enquired about lighting the finish line as I could be out there for some time.
The first step hurt. The second a bit more but the thrid was the same. 6 yards in and I knew it would be a tough call to do the other 42,000 or so. Each time my left foot hit the ground a shooting pain gripped my ankle. The flat was sore, uphill was easier but down hill was torture. Barely runable and limping. I had taken painkillers but don't know if they worked. This was really bad. All I could think of was 21,000 stabs. :-(
In fact if you don't mind. I won't even recall the remaining four and a half hours.
Ankle like a small pot at the end. Couldn't motivate myself to get into the stream. Should be looking forward to the last day but if it is a painful as today I don't want to go.
Ray
9 down.
