Thanks for the effort to organize Connemara 2007, there are no words to say how beautiful was the day, and without a proper organization the weather would not have been enough (and the marathon would just not exists).

I wish to congratulate Ray and all the team on the organisation of such a wonderful event. I enjoyed the marathon very much. Thanks a million. It was the most beautiful race I have ever run in my life. The landscape and the weather were so nice !!!!

I had a very slow run due to a pre race illness but didn't mind as it gave me an excuse to have even more time on the lovely course and to chat to some of my fellow participants along the way. will have to come back next year to bury the demons!
Crazy thing to do!
Fri, 30/11/2007OK, so now I've just gone and done something crazy!
And it's all Selina Da Silva's fault. Selina is an ultra runner, extreme marathoner, double, triple marathoner, 12 hour runner, 24 hour runner and she actually had the cheek to call me a 'marathon nut' once.
So there I was sitting quietly in my office looking for inspiration and the Brathay Challenge popped into my inbox. Little did I know that it would take just two simple words to put me into a complete spin. Brathay Challenge. I knew instantly that it was exactly the challenge for me - 10 marathons in 10 days on the UK's most beautiful marathon route - It was going to be a slow buildup as my first challenge had already begun. I had to convince myself that I could actually do something as extraordinary as that next year.
Those that know me well, also know that I'm a bit impulsive. A quick decision maker who doesn't bother with too many what if's. If it feels right then I go with it. Sometimes it works out and sometimes it does not, but one of my million or so mottos is 'nothing ventured, nothing gained' (I hate mottos). But I didn't rush in this time, I didn't make a quick decision, an instant decision, another impulse buy. While I knew I wanted to do the 10 in 10, I needed to know that I could do it. There is a big difference between those two words 'want' and 'could'. No, this one needed careful consideration. Think what we feel like after a marathon. Now get up the following morning and do another, and another, and.... well I don't have to spell it out. This is massive. It took a couple of months of careful consideration and the result is I'm in. I have decided that next May will be the month and 2008 will be the year that I finally do something truly out of the ordinary.
So Selina, if you're reading this. Here's a great big sarcastic 'Thanks', followed by a sincere one. Thanks, we'll have a ball.
