Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon in Ireland

Connemarathon 2014
DATE: tbc
Maam Cross, Co Galway

Not long until April 1st!

  • Ray and team, Thanks for a fantastic event once again on Sunday. The organisation was super once again and you even managed to arrange the first real sunny day of the year for us!

  • This was my first real run, and now I am totally hooked. I just wanted to thank everyone involved, and say that I can't wait for next years Full Marathon. Keep up the fantastic work.

  • Splendid event and a fantastic environment for it (and you managed excellent weather!). Your organisation was incredible, everything thought of and available in huge quantities; gallons of water out there, and lots of food at the finish.

 Hi Pearse,
Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate.

Pebrennan, apology I was away for a while.

I don't really advise on supplements for general runners, as I think if you don't run professionaly to be the best you can be, supplements have a more commercial benefit than personal. It sound a bit mean to say, but I woudl usually start to use them at National level for people who really train with high volume and high intensity.

I believe usual runners like you and me shoudl work more on their own nutrition and meals on a daily basic to be honest. But I can be wrong. Maybe you coudl post on the Nutrition forum to get more specialiased advices.

If the local Club is having a race the same day with a similar audience then you will probably not get a cert. There is usually a 6 day gap required between races in the same county for certs, unless the target audience is very different of course.

the GAA dont give out permits to running clubs, i dont think AAI will be giving out permits to Gaa clubs, and who from the aai gave the distance cert...

Irish Runner had a christmas

Fri, 01/02/2013 - 12:54

Irish Runner had a christmas special/annual out in december, came with a big year planner wallchart.  Maybe it was a december/january issue so next one will be out soon.

Hi Jenny,   My issue was

Hi Jenny,

My issue was due a weakness in my clute I didn't know about. I had overloading of the hip flexor and quad. So I had some dry needling to loosen that up. I hope to start back easy next week and have an easy run for my race in two weeks! Following the plan I was giving :) Would recommend Total Physio!

Kind Regards

Aaron

Hi Adrian, Couple of

Fri, 01/02/2013 - 11:19

Hi Adrian,
Couple of questions. Is it the exact same course as last year? I was of the impression that last year was a little short?
Also, according to the AAI website, the Donadea running club are having a trail run on the same day. This might not help with your numbers.

There's two things going on

Fri, 01/02/2013 - 10:31

There's two things going on there. First is that garmin HRMs will blip from time to time showing a HR of over 200. I got this a good few times (more than 10) over 3 years. Once was doing a very easy jog around a rugby pitch in the rain. You should see on the graph that it only went to that once for the run and it spiked and dropped right down again. The other thing as you guessed is your cold/flu will make your HR higher. Best advice is to rest until you get better (need to do this myself!).

Hi Adrian, yea I would.

Hi Adrian, yea I would. Partly for insurance purposes, but also it would attract more club runners. Best to contact the local AAI County Board, or someone you know in a local club.

Hi there, Running with Tina

Hi there,

Running with Tina have a running club in Sandymount. I think they run a few times a week.

If you go onto the website runwithtina.com you will find it. I think its €100 for the year it goes to charity!
