Half Marathon, Full Marathon and Ultra Marathon in Ireland

Connemarathon 2014
DATE: tbc
Maam Cross, Co Galway

Not long until April 1st!

  • Splendid event and a fantastic environment for it (and you managed excellent weather!). Your organisation was incredible, everything thought of and available in huge quantities; gallons of water out there, and lots of food at the finish.

  • Thanks for the effort to organize Connemara 2007, there are no words to say how beautiful was the day, and without a proper organization the weather would not have been enough (and the marathon would just not exists).

  • The organisation was faultless, from the baggage buses, to the fantastic aid stations(those kids worked HARD), to the t shirts and medals. All utterly, utterly wonderful (the scenery was quite nice too-tee hee).

Kinetica Recovery is great to

Mon, 28/01/2013 - 18:06

Kinetica Recovery is great to replace carbs and some electrolytes. Its mainly a protein drink, so that will help your muscles rebuild after a run/race. It does contain wheat, yeast and dairy, so if you are allergic or intollerant then try something else! Protein drinks aren't meant to give you energy, just to repair muscles.

I had knee pain twice. First time it was below the knee and it was due to me not stretching my quads after running, easily fixed. Second was when going up or down stairs after a run and it was due to heel striking when running. This happens regardless of the type of runner you wear or the amount of cushioning. Although zero cushioning will force you to stop heel striking I find! Worth looking into.

That all sounds interesting but you really have to deal with the injury first!!!! Otherwise it will break down and make you stop running. Come and see us if you're Dublin based or if you need a recommendation for somewhere else in Ireland, just let me know.
Jenny

jenny, thanks for that info....I am a disaster, i normally do 2/3 mins of warm up just-then run! and as for after running-its nought-straigh for a shower.. bad i know.. need to get a better routine going!(doing 2 6kms midweek just and a long run the weekend - and enjoying it) up the ante a fair bit.. plan to join a new fitness group that's starting this wednesday--gary o hanlon running it! so should be good/interesting..

Hey CGorman So probably

Hey CGorman
So probably patella tendonitis then if it's below the kneecap - you need to work on quads flexibility (foam roll excellent for this) and get your physio to friction the tendon and figure out why this came on. Otherwise it will get worse and eventually put you out of running.
Good luck,
Jenny
